Historical Society

Welcome to the Canon Historical Society's website. I have started the Society to promote the exchange of information about collecting Canon camera equipment, and so that members may get to know other people with similar interests.  My vision for the society is mainly web based, with no intention of publishing a printed journal. I hope to have forums for discussions, a collection of member written (and illustrated) articles, and links to other related sites. I would also like to have a section of members biographies and photos of their collections, with the ability to limit whether they can be viewed by the general public, or just the members. I'd like each member to control how much privacy they wish to maintain and with whom they wish to share personal data.

I am Mike Otto, of Pacific Rim Camera. I collect Canon SLR equipment, and have a certain madness for things in their original boxes, and dealer display items.

At this point I am collecting contact information from people who are interested in joining the Society. As I have yet to figure out what the expenses are going to be for the site, I don't have a feel for what type of dues may be needed to keep it afloat. As it is web based, I think they will be minimal. So, if you are interested in joining, please send me an email at canonhistoricalsociety@gmail.com. Please include your name, an email address, phone number and what you collect. If you have suggestions or ideas, I'd like to hear them as well. I won't share any of your contact info with anyone else without your permission.

I hope to hear from many of you soon.

Mike
